How it started
As a parent, you want your child’s space to be safe and nurturing, but finding products that balance safety, durability, and aesthetics can feel impossible. When my daughter was 4 months old, I was desperately hunting for a suitable playmat, but all I could find were bright designs that clashed with my home interior.
Rooted in my Swedish heritage, I created Lillefolk to offer playmats that merge timeless aesthetics with everyday functionality, allowing parents and children to enjoy serene, stylish spaces without compromise.
Our product philosophy
All our designs beautifully fuse traditional artisan rug techniques and motifs with Scandinavian aesthetics.
It all began with our first design, the Classic Gray playmat. Inspired by the 1,200-year-old artistry of Morocan Berber rugs and minimalist Scandinavian design, this playmat tells a refined story with hand-illustrated motifs: diamonds for protection and chevrons representing life's journey with its ups and downs. Rooted in Moroccan traditions of a rug's role of infusing homes with positive energy, our Classic Gray playmat set the standard for our designs.
Since then, we've expanded our collection with the same meticulous attention to detail in every design. Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s quote, "The rug is the soul of the home," our playmats aim to elevate your living space, creating a sanctuary that everyone in your family can enjoy.
